Frost & Sullivan Recognizes ConvaTec for Technology Innovation & Leadership in Advanced Wound Management SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- March 16, 2005 -- Frost & Sullivan will present its 2005 Advanced Wound Management Technology Innovation & Leadership of the Year Award to ConvaTec at tonight's Excellence in Medical Devices Awards Banquet in recognition of ConvaTec's leadership of the wound management market through consistently innovative products of superior quality.
"ConvaTec has been a global leader in the moist wound dressings market ever since its first moist wound-healing product, DuoDERM(R) Hydroactive Dressing, was introduced in 1982," notes Frost & Sullivan research analyst Sheila Ewing. "The company's focus on new technologies and techniques underpin their brand names with a strong identity in the marketplace."
ConvaTec's extensive line of wound care products includes DuoDERM(R) hydrocolloid dressings, AQUACEL(R) Hydrofiber(R) dressings, and Kaltostat(R) alginate dressings. The newest wound care brands are Versiva(R) absorbent dressing and AQUACEL(R) Ag antimicrobial wound dressing for acute and chronic wounds. The introduction of Versiva(R) demonstrates ConvaTec's pioneering attitude, which is expected to prompt further growth in the moist wound dressings market, leaving many of its competitors searching for comparable products. ConvaTec pioneered the development of patented Hydrofiber(R) technology which is the basis for AQUACEL, AQUACEL Ag and Versiva.
"Frost & Sullivan believes that ConvaTec is particularly well positioned for growth in wound management due to its pioneering technology developments," says Ewing. "Profitable results are evident from increasing global annual sales for its advanced wound management products."
With the company's focus clearly on providing advanced solutions to create high-quality, sophisticated wound dressings, and therefore, meet the needs of physicians and patients, Frost & Sullivan believes ConvaTec to be the most deserving recipient of the 2005 Advanced Wound Management Technology Innovation & Leadership of the Year Award.
Held in San Francisco, Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Excellence in Medical Devices Awards Banquet honors world-class companies for outstanding performance and achievements in the medical devices industry. An annual event, the banquet recognizes the quality and merit of distinguished individuals and companies.
