Modiv Media and Motorola Team to Provide Stop & Shop with Handheld Shopping Device
(Wireless News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
Modiv Media, a provider of retail interactive media delivery solutions,
and Motorola's enterprise mobility business announced Stop & Shop
customers are the first to use the Modiv Shopper, a next-generation
portable shopping assistant powered by Motorola's MC17 mobile computer.
The handheld device, known as "easySHOP" by Stop & Shop customers,
gives shoppers the option for "scan-and-bag" service and provides
targeted savings to Stop & Shop customers. An interactive demo of Modiv
Shopper is available at the Motorola booth at the NRF 97th Annual
Convention & Expo at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York
City.
The deployment of the Modiv Shopper at about 100 Stop & Shop stores in
New England enhances the consumer shopping experience by enabling
customers to save time and money through self-service. Shoppers benefit
from speedy checkout, instant price checks and running totals.
Customers also receive tailored promotions based on their individual
shopping history, redemption history, in-store location tracking and
just-scanned items in aisles.
"The Modiv Shopper serves up a superior shopping experience and value
for Stop & Shop, its customers and brand partners alike," said Robert
Wesley, president and CEO of Modiv Media. "With our Modiv Shopper
solution, retailers can increase sales and customer loyalty through
self-service convenience and relevant marketing solutions while brand
marketers can bring real-time, measurable and coordinated media
targeting to the in-store experience."
The device delivers targeted promotions and product information to
customers at their "moment of decision" with what to buy when they are
in-store. According to the Food Marketing Institute, 70 percent of all
shopping decisions are made in the store.
"easySHOP will allow us to better serve our customers, empowering them
with more control over their shopping trip while making efficient and
smart buying decisions through relevant product promotions and
information," said Christine Dorman, SVP, Operational and Strategic
Initiatives & Support Services for Stop & Shop.
"The Modiv Shopper deployment at Stop & Shop addresses customers
increasing demand for improved customer service in the grocery
segment," said Mark Self, vice president of retail solutions for the
enterprise mobility business, Motorola. "Together with Modiv Media and
Stop & Shop, we are in the position to improve the shopping experience
and enable customers to make better-informed purchase decisions and
retailers to reach the customer with relevant marketing at the point of
decision."
