CENX (News - Alert), Inc., a Carrier Ethernet exchanges operator, has announced extension of its 4G-LTE wireless backhaul platform. The company will also offer support for the deployment of nationwide 4G-LTE wireless broadband network by LightSquared (News - Alert).
In a release, LightSquared Chief Network Officer Doug Smith said that “Our decision to work with CENX was based on their unparalleled expertise in Carrier Ethernet and its exchange services. CENX’s advanced OSS will help ensure LightSquared delivers a best-in-class integrated 4G-LTE (News - Alert) wireless broadband and satellite network.”
Wireless operators interested in deploying LTE need readily available Ethernet backhaul to enable integration of multiple access providers across a region. Another requirement is for securing low cost per bit which can be facilitated through a specific path to diverse class of service. The third requirement is for support systems to keep track of backhaul and SLAs which are Ethernet specific.
CENX has developed its OSS platform to effectively address all three requirements. The OSS platform comprises of certain systems and processes which enable faster integration of different backhaul providers. It also features a range of processes to support order fulfillment, and to enable tracking, provisioning, turn up and testing. Furthermore the platform allows easy monitoring of fault and operational performance.
Nan Chen, President of CENX said that “Efficiently delivering the bandwidth required in the wireless backhaul space is the single biggest challenge in the industry; Carrier Ethernet, with its Multi-Class of Service capability, can break the bandwidth logjam and drive the lowest cost per bit and higher profitability. We are proud to be supporting LightSquared’s development of its industry changing network.”
