Welcome to the Wireless Backhaul Community
Wireless backhaul is the use of wireless communications systems to get data from an end user to a major network such as the Internet or the proprietary network of a large business, academic institution or government agency. Wireless backhaul can also refer to the transmission of network data over an alternative wireless route when the normal route is unavailable or overtaxed.
With the explosion of WiFi hotspots, especially as cellular carriers increase their use of long-range wireless broadband to deliver voice and data back to their networks, the need for wireless backhaul becomes extremely important. Most commonly, methods of wireless backhaul include microwave and satellite systems which are typically set up so that systems can be used together with other point-to-multi-point equipment.
